CHANDIGARH: Punjab government understood to have initiated move to disband Punjab Wakf Board headed by Congress MLA from Malerkotla Razia Sultana, wife of a senior IPS officer Mohammed Mustafa of Punjab cadre.
Punjab government has reportedly received a written complaint of certain bunglings by Wakf Board authorities. The state government has ordered an inquiry into the complaint made by Mohammed Hanif General secretary of Patiala(rural) unit of Shiromani Akali Dal. The sources said on Wednesday that Punjab government has asked the Administrative officer of the Wakf Board to submit the report on alleged bunglings by the Board Chairman within three days. The probe has been marked by Principal secretary, Home, B.C.Gupta, sources said. The complaint said that Razia Sultana who had contested Vidhan Sabha election from Malerkotla on Congress ticket had misued the Wakf Board funds to promote her political interests. The complainant has alleged that Razia Sultana had granted pension to certain people in his constituency to influence the voters. He also said that she had released unauthorised grants and recruited certain people in the Wakf Board belongingto Uttar Pardesh. It is expected that Punjab government would take a decision to disband the Wakf Board after getting report from the administrative officer. The baord was constituted by former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh few months before the assembly elections. |
