FATEHGARH SAHIB: Ramesh Gupta of Bassi Vikas Manch was unanimously  elected vice president of Municipal Council, Bassi Pathana of district Fatehgarh Sahib.

As per the schedule, the meeting held in the council office but the council president Amita Tangri, who belongs to Congress along with her four supporters did not participate in the meeting.

Eight councilors and area  SAD MLA Didar Singh Bhatti, who has right to cast vote participated in the meeting which was held under the supervision of Bassi Pathana SDM.  There are total 13 councilors in the town but due to groupism of councilors  people are suffering .

It may be mentioned here that the council president is busy to save her post as  ten councilors of the town had already moved a no confidence motion against Tangri .  Tangri, who is close to former Chief Parliamentary Secretary Dr Harbans Lal will face the no confidence motion on May 8 as 10 councilors including SAD  MLA  Didar Singh Bhatti had submitted no confidence against her earlier and she had called meeting for May 8.

The council have 14 members including MLA and 10 members are required to pass no confidence. Sources said  that 5 councilors including two councilors, who had signed no confidence have gone underground and may skip the meeting, if it happened then no confidence can not be passed and it would be a set back to SAD- BJP Councilors move.  Senior SAD leaders are making all efforts to pass the motion at any cost.
