CHANDIGARH: Three Akali Leaders Tuesday challenged Capt. Amarinder Singh and the controversial Pakistani national, a journalist Aroosa Alam to a live television debate to establish the truth about their reported "nikah".
In a statement issued here Jagdeep Nakai, Nand Lal, Chief Parliamentary Secretaries and Sikander Singh Malooka, former Minister, said that though Capt. Amarinder Singh and Aroosa Alam as consenting adults had the right to have any moral, physical or platonic relationship but since both were controversial public figures and their relationship had serious implication for the security of the country, the nation had a right to know the truth of their relationship. The leaders said that they had authentic evidence of the 'nikah' and they would reveal this evidence to the public when Capt. and Aroosa come for live television debate on this issue. The Akali leaders said that it was unfortunate that Union Defence Ministry as well as Ministry of External Affairs was sleeping over the breach of national security by Aroosa, the alleged ISI agent who was taken by then Chief Minister, Capt. Amarinder Singh in Civil-Military Liaison Conference held in Western Command, Chandimandir. This was all more shocking as Pak national had a valid visa to travel only up to Amritsar and did not even feel the need to get permission of MEA to travel to Chandigarh. She in fact threw all foreign national regulations to the winds as Amarinder 'graciously' took her with him to the national capital and also to Jaipur, Jaisalmer and Ajmer. They wondered why this meeting was kept such a secret meeting as not to allow even officers of the Punjab Government in it. But Capt. Amrinder Singh was able to sneak in Aroosa, an alleged ISI agent, in that meeting. The Akali leaders alleged that vital information on ways to check the activities of Pakistan on Indo-Pak border was leaked to the neighboring country through Amarinder's Pakistani friend They said that the Manmohan Singh Government was trying to brush this issue under the carpet by symbolically canceling the Visa of Aroosa. They demanded a thorough enquiry into the breach of security and national interest and report be made public at the earliest.
