FATEHGARH SAHIB: With the timely intervention of Bassi Pathana, the clash was averted between SAD and Congress activists. The activists of both the parties were assembly in front of Municipal Council, Bassi Pathana, where a meeting was called by the council president Amita Tangri to consider no-confidence motion, which was moved against her by some councilors.
Congress activists led by former Chief Parliamentary Secretary Dr Harbans Lal and SAD-BJP activists raised slogans and counter slogans in front of the council office . Though the agenda for the today's meeting was issued but the council Executive Officer was on leave today. As per the schedule SAD MLA Didar Singh Bhatti reached at the council office where Amita Tangri was present. In the start of meeting Bhatti objected that Tangri can not preside over the meeting as no confidence is being considered against her and government officer could have been deputed. Bhatti and Tangri signed on proceeding register but there was no sign of any councilor on the register. Bhatti mentioned his objections on the register and said that meeting was not held as per the agenda. There is confusion about the today's meeting as it is not cleared that whether the meeting was postponed or cancelled as agenda of the meeting was not discussed in meeting . When contacted Fatehgarh Sahib DC Alaknanda Dayal and asked about the postponement of today's meeting, she said that she said that she did not get the proceeding of today's meeting and after getting copy of proceeding on Wednesday she can tell actual position. Dr Harbans Lal alleged that Akalis want to control the council through their highhandedness and he will continue to raise objection over this manner. |
