CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal Friday congratulated BSP President  Mayawati for spectacular performance of the BSP in Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha elections.

Mayawati who has got a clear majority in the Uttar Pardesh Vidhan Sabha would swear in as Chief Minister of the largest state of the country. 

In a message to  Mayawati,  Badal described the performance of BSP as a heartening sign for democracy in the country and  good news for poor and downtrodden. The Chief Minister said that the results of UP elections could decisively influence the national politics.

Badal also referred to the performances of the Congress Party in these elections and said that the results would conclusively settle the pretension of the Nehru-Gandhi family, as even presence of their entire clan during campaign could not help the Congress Party from disaster.
