CHANDIGARH: The Working President of Shiromani Akali Dal, Sukhbir Singh Badal said here Friday that the stunning victory of Mayawati lead Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in just concluded U.P. elections has started the countdown for the Congress lead UPA Government at the centre  

He said that BSP's triumph would also pave the way for total elimination of Congress Party from Punjab.

In a statement here, SAD Working President described BSP's performance as resounding defeat of the old princely and aristocratic tendencies and  a definite gain for the poor, the deprived and the exploited sections of the Society.

Sukhbir Badal said that the results of these elections had exposed the façade of so-called massive following of Nehru-Gandhi family as the day & night campaigning for months together by Smt. Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka collectively, could not save the party. He pointed out that the Congress even under the leadership of Sita Ram Kesri's was able to garner more seats than it has got now.

Congratulating Mayawati for this resounding win,  Badal said her victory was good omen for downtrodden people of the Society and an indicator of end of aristocratic tendencies in the Indian Polity.
