PATIALA: A showdown between  Congress workers and Patiala police is expected on Monday when former Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh would be appearing in circuit house here before Punjab Vigilance Bureau  in connection with Ludhiana's city centre scam. 

 

The vigilance Bureau has registered a case of corruption against Amarinder Singh and names of his MP wife Parneet Kaur, son Raninder Singh and other relatives have also been included as co-accused.
 
The Vigilance officials have supplied a questionnaire  of 56 quaries to Amarinder Singh and sought his reply. The Bureau has arrested Chetan Gupta a Delhi  based Hawala conduit and recovered a pen drive from his possession that reportedly contained certain Hawala transanctions of former Chief Minister and his family members.

Patiala Police has deployed heavy security  in Baradari gardens where circuit house is situated to prevent any possible disturbance by the supporters of Capt. Amarinder Singh.  Patiala Police has  also called extra police force from Rajpura, Samana, Nabha etc.

 Paramjit Singh Gill DIG Patiala range  held a meeting of police officials on Saturday for supervising the police arrangements of possible threat by Sikh hardliners against Dera sect. as well as arrangements for Monday's date of Capt. Amarinder Singh with vigilance.

SK Asthana Senior Superintendebt of Police has confirmed and said that no one will be allowed to disturb peace in the city and will be dealt strictly. He said that sec 144 has already imposed in city and if some body will break it will be suitably tackled. 

The sources close to Amarinder Singh said he had  prepared befitting reply to all the 56 questions to be submitted to Vigilance Bureau tomorrow. The vigilance sleuths may cross examine Amarinder Singh on reply filed by him.

Sources c said that senior advocates had marathon deliberations marathon with Capt. Amarinder Singh to prepare answers of the list of questions sent by Vigilance.

It is expected that MLA's close to Amarinder Singh would reach Patiala on Monday. The former Chief Minister had managed his show of strength on May 2.  As many as 23 sitting MLAs and an equal number of former MLAs were present to welcome him. Malwinder Singh, brother of the former Chief Minister, played a key role in the success of show of strength. This time he expected over 30 Congress MLAs coming to express solidarity with Amarinder. 

Major Amarjit Singh, personal assistant of Capt. Amarinder Singh, has alleged that present government has indulged in cheap politics and threatening congress workers for coming to Patiala in the support of Capt. Amarinder Singh. Major Amarjit Singh however confirmed that few Congress MLAs had met him yesterday and today morning.
