CHANDIGARH: Sun Cricket Club failed to consolidate their innings after their openers Nikhil Arora (63) and Ranjit Singh Gill (39) gave them a fine star by putting on 91 runs for the opening wicket stand against Bombay Cricket Club who snatched a close 19-run victory in the Hot Weather Cricket Tournament being organised by the Chandigarh Sports Department at the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium here Saturday.

 

Chasing a target of 186 runs for victory, Sun CC were restricted to 166 for 8 in allotted 25 overs. This was in reply to Bomaby Club's innings of 185 for 6 in stipulated 25 overs.

Nikhil and Ranjit flayed the Bombay bowlers as they merrily posted 91 runs in 12.4 overs before Ranjit Gill was dismissed for 34 which came in 45 balls and with the help of four boundaries. Nikhil Arora faced 48 deliveries and hit 10 fours before he was run out and was the first batsman to be dimissed.

However, the other Sun CC batsmen failed to rise to the occasion and with their inapet batting surrendered the wickets. Only Vishal Sharma (11) and Harvinder Singh (not out 18) could reach the double figure mark.
Rajesh Dutt (2 for 33), Gurinder (2 for 20), Sandeep (1 for 28) and Manan Dogra (1 for 31) were the wicket takers for Mumbai CC.

Earlier, Bombay Cricket Club made 185 for 6 in 25 overs and their innings lasted 107 minutes.
Openers Kamal Behl (76, 7xs, 3x6s) and Lalit Kumar (18) realised 45 runs for the opening wicket stand. Lalit was first to be departed after contributing 18 runs. He hit two fours. Then Behl and Atul Dhingra (30, 2x4s) were associated in a 39-run association for the third wicket. Rajesh Dutt made 24 and Nannu Kumar remained not out on 10.  Sunil Kalia was the most successful bowler for Sun CC as he claimed three wickets for 33 runs, Harvinder got two for 33.
