AMRITSAR: Guru Nanak Dev University has introduced one-year Job Oriented Certificate and Diploma Courses for Matric and Plus Two (+2) pass un-employed youth from the current academic session 2007-08 commencing from July this year.
These courses are being started at Amritsar, Gurdaspur and Niari under the aegis of the Department of Adult, Continuing Education and Extension of the University. According to Prof. Subhash Chandar, Director and Head of the Department, Matric pass girls are eligible for admission to one-year Certificate Course in Dress Designing, Cutting & Tailoring. He said that Plus Two pass women only could seek admission in Diploma in Textile Designing, Diploma in Cosmetology and Diploma in Computer Application. The Director said that Diploma in Electronics and TV Maintenance and Servicing and Diploma in Computer Hardware Maintenance are available for Plus Two pass both Boys and Girls. He said the application forms for all these courses could be had from the Department of Adult, Continuing Education and Extension located in the Dasmesh Auditorium of the University, Amritsar; Regional Campus, Hardochanni Road, Gurdaspur and University College, Niari. He said the forms complete in all respects could be submitted till June 29. The interview for Certificate Course in Dress Designing, Cutting & Tailoring would be conducted on July 2; for Diploma in Textile Designing on July 3; for Diploma in Electronics and TV Maintenance and Servicing on July 5; for Diploma in Computer Hardware Maintenance on July 6; for Diploma in Cosmetology on July 4 and for Diploma in Computer Application on July 12. The interview for all these courses would be held at the University Campus, Amritsar. Similarly, the interview for Certificate Course in Dress Designing Cutting and Tailoring being run by the University at its Regional Campus, Gurdaspur would be held on July 9 at this campus. The interview for Certificate Course in Dress Designing Cutting and Tailoring available at Shaheed Ram Singh Pathania Memorial College, Niari (District Gurdaspur) would be conducted on July 11.
