Punjab govt bans ragging in colleges in state Print E-mail

CHANDIGARH:  Punjab government has decided to completely ban ragging in all professional colleges in the state on the directions of the  Supreme Court.

The Punjab Government has asked the departments of Education,  Technical Education and Medical Education to immediately tackle the problem of ragging in the state educational institutions.

Stating this here Tuesday,  R.I. Singh, Chief Secretary Punjab said that the Secretaries of these departments, have already been asked to ensure prompt implementation of the Court orders in both letter and spirit. He  also  urged the officers concerned to constitute anti-ragging committees and squads and  closely monitor the functioning of these committees. The Chief Secretary suggested incorporating the relevant provisions of the court directions regarding ragging in the prospectus to be issued for admission by the educational institutions. Subject relating to ragging may also be included in the educational curriculum, he added.
