Haryana demands Rs.1217 crores for 12 irrigation projects Print E-mail

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Government has forwarded 12 irrigation schemes costing Rs. 1217 crore to the government of India for its approval under Bharat Nirman programme. This was disclosed by the Irrigation Minister, Capt. Ajay Singh here Friday.

He said that under these schemes the irrigation potential of 2.38 lakh hectares of land would be augmented during next four years.

He said that besides the work on renovation of Mesani Bairaj reservoir had been started and a sum of Rs. 6.7 crore would be incurred on this scheme.

He said that a scheme of costing Rs. 200 crore had been chalked out to check the flood furry for the districts Jind, Jhajjar, Rohtak, Bhiwani and Hisar .

Capt Yadav said that during the tenure of the present government with the assistance of NABARD the work on 49 projects had been completed while the work on 61 projects was on progress. He said that NABARD, had accorded its approval for 38 schemes costing Rs. 132.29 crore for the augmentation of irrigation facility and better water management.

The Minister said that the work on 109 km long BML Hansi Butana multipurpose canal having 2000 cusecs capacity was being constructed at a cost of Rs. 354 crore He said after the commissioning of the canal, West Yamuna Canal and Lift Irrigation system would get more water and 16 districts of the state would get benefit of this canal.

He said that the efforts were made to increase the capacity of Jawahar Lal Nehru Feeder upto 2200 cusecs as against 2000 cusecs at present.

Chandigarh, June 29 - The Haryana State Vigilance Bureau has caught red handed Sube Singh, Naib Sadar Kanoongo, Mohindergarh posted at DC office Mohindergarh while accepting a bribe of Rs 1200 from Anil Kumar resident of Dalanwas, district Mohindergarh in lieu of Jamabandi.

A case has been registered against him under section 7/13/49/88 of Prevention of Corruption Act in the police station of State Vigilance Bureau Gurgaon. Further investigation of the case is in progress.
