AMRITSAR: The Pakistan Government on Monday released fifty one Indian fishermen to reciprovate the Indian gesture of repatriating 43 Pak proisoners lodged in Indian jails on Saturday last.

All the fifty-one fishermen were in state of shock and it was unbelievable for them that they were on Indian soil after being freed by the Pakistan Government.

All the released Indian fishermen were arrested in the year of 2005 when they reached Pakistan through territorial waters of Arabian Sea where they were held for illegal fishing. They were detained in the Landhi Jail in Pakistan.

Narrating his experience of nightmare after being released from Landhi jail Ragoo (27) said, "It was hellish atmosphere inside the prison in Pakistan where there was no medical facilities available for Indian prisoners.  Only in rare case medical aid was provided.  But we were in touch with the our families in India through letters as sometime Jail Authority did not mind to deliver letters arrived from India".

Mala (male 1976 born) who was struggling hard to hold back his tears said, " I was arrested by the Pakistani Authority in the territorial waters of Arabian Sea. After being arrested I was confined in the unhygienic dingy cell at Landhi jail. Even, the daylight was the distant dream. I know it as how I have experienced hellish atmosphere during the detention in Pakistan, as hygienic food was too distant dream".

Another prisoner Sanjay said, "The behavior pattern of the Pakistani jail officials was awful enough toward the Indian fishermen during detention period. Since, Pakistani jail officials had treated us inhumanly. The food served to us could be compared with grass served to animals ".

Adding further Sanjay said, "Still 384 Indian fishermen are rotting in Landhi jail of Pakistan and it seems that their future is highly bleak unless Indian Government come forward for their release".

Indian fisherman were carrying gloomy faces, as on reaching on Indian soil, now they would be unable to rejoin their profession of fishing once again since their costly boats were still in the possession of the Pak Government, claimed Indian fishermen.

Indian fishermen claimed that the costs of the one boat are varies from Rs. 50,000/- to 10 lakhs. At the time of arrest Pakistan Government has captured their boats.

A young Indian national Hasan 1982 born while narrating his tale of woe could not hold his tears said, " During detention in Landhi jail he was forced to clean the dirty and unhygienic toilets".

Released Indian fisherman Sanjay has also brought a letter written by one of the Indian detainee out of 384 from Landhi jail said that many Indian prisoners in Landhi jail suffering from tuberculosis and diabetics and Jail authority is highly reluctant to provide them necessary medical treatment.

The copy of the letter has also been sent to Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi. The letter was written by the Indian Fishermen Association formed by the Indian fishermen detained in the Landhi jail in Pakistan.

Fishermen association also urged the present Indian leadership to do the needful for the hapless Indian prisoners suffering in the Landhi jail in Pakistan particularly for those who were suffering from deadly diseases.
