24 nursing students conferred Bachelor's degrees by UCOL New Zealand Print E-mail

FATEHGARH SAHIB: Two dozen nursing students were conferred upon with Bachelors' degrees after having successfully completed the Bachelor of Nursing degree programme of Universal College of Learning(UCOL), New Zealand through Canadian Institute of International Studies(CIIS) at latter's Jalvehra campus near Sirhind in Fatehgarh Sahib .

Brian Gilchrist, Director of Nurse Education, School of Nursing, UCOL, New Zealand was the chief guest while Perya Short, Education Counselor, Ministry of Education, New Zealand was  Guest of Honour.

While addressing the gathering, Brian Gilchrist said that the Bachelor of Nursing, degree programme being offered by UCOL, New Zealand along with its off shore partner CIIS at Jalvehra provides the basic platform for registered Indian nurses to seek global careers overseas by qualifying as per the international standards in nursing.

Perya Short, Education Counsellor, South East Asia, Ministry of Education, New Zealand, while eulogizing the potential of Indian nursing students, hoped for a great future ahead for the young graduates. She appreciated the initiatives taken by the Indian government  to offer foreign education to the students.  She said that it  will not only open gates for the Indian students to lead a quality life but also provide them to settle any where around the Globe.

CIIS President Col. BS Sandhu (Retd) wished the passing out batch a successful and enriching career after having been fully equipped with all the requisite training and fundamentals of nursing at international level at the joint UCOL-CIIS programme in India.

Dr MS Grewal Director CIIS. Jalvehra informed that out of 24 pass outs four have already been registered abroad to pursue further studies in nursing, rest of the current batch pass outs await their overseas registration process to be completed before they actually head abroad for a bright and lucrative career in nursing. He said that two pass outs have already registered for UK while one each has been registered with Canada and New Zealand for further studies.
