Chandigarh demands application for 'National youth Awards' Print E-mail

CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh Sports Department is inviting applications for "National Youth Award" 2006-2007 to be conferred on individuals/voluntary organizations, who/which have rendered voluntary services in different fields. 

 

As per the eligibility criteria the age of  individual  should be between 13 to 15 years,  have completed 13 years of age on the  April 1 of the financial year, for which award to be conferred and should be less than 35 years of age on the  March 31 of the that financial year, he should have rendered the service in the relevant field for the financial year concerned on   voluntary/basis and likely to continue to involve himself/herself in such activities for at least another two years after the conferment   of the award. The person who has earlier received this award and Government. employees are not eligible for the award, according to Joint Director Sports JPS Sidhu.
 
 For voluntary organizations the eligibility criteria includes that it should be registered under the Society Act ,1860 for the last three years, having properly constituted managing body, not running on profit basis, have rendered welfare service for young, having good reputation among the local community, impact of the service should be clearly identifiable. 
           
 The award to individual will comprise a medal, a scroll and Rs. 20,000 and award to Volunteer Youth Organizations will comprise a trophy, a scroll and Rs. 1,00,000.

The field activities to be taken into consideration for the purpose of "National Youth Award " would include social work in the Rural Areas and Urban Slums, Promotion of National Integration, adventure, culture and & recreational activities, non-format and adult education programme eork for improvement of condition of the persons belonging to the weaker section of the society, S.C/S.T and Tribal Areas.
    
 The last date of receipt of the application(s) on prescribed proforma duly completed in all respect and recommended by the concerned authority should reach in the office of Mr  Amarjit Singh, Administrative Officer-cum- In Charge Youth Affairs, Directorate of Sports, Chandigarh Administration, Hockey Stadium, Sector 42, Chandigarh latest by  August 1.
