CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh Administration increased the monthly pension for the old age people, widows and disabled persons from Rs. 200 to 250 per month. The revised date will come into force with effect from July 1, 2007.

UT Home and Social Welfare Secretary, Krishna Mohan disclosed that 5243 beneficiaries for old age pension, 2873 for widow pension and 1477 for pension to disabled persons would be benefited. Rs. 57.56 lacs would be spent as additional amount for the three pensions during the current financial year. The total annual amount being spent for the pension was Rs. 230.23 lacs which would be increased to Rs. 287.79 lacs.
