Punjab govt to start campaign against quacks |

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Government has decided to launch a special state wide drive to check the medical practice being done by quacks especially with those with fake/forged degrees in the state.
Disclosing this here Thursday Tikshan Sood, Minister for Medical Education & Research said that government can not be silent spectator to the illegal medical practice being run by Ayurvedic Doctors who have obtained degrees from un-recogonised universities/teaching institutions. A special Committee has been constituted to conduct raids and take criminal actions against such elements. The Minister said that it has been decided that all Ayurvedic Clinics, Nursing Homes/Hospitals would display sign boards of specific size with the complete educational qualifications of doctors running the clinics. Similarly letter heads and prescription slips of the doctors would also carry their complete name and education qualifications. Later in a meeting of Board of Ayurvedic & Unani systems of Medicines, it was decided to constitute a high level committee to oversee the establishment of Ayurvedic University in the State. |
