FATEHGARH SAHIB: A closed door meeting among Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Avtar Singh Makkar, Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Jathedar Giani Balwant Singh Nandgarh and Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Jathedar Giani Tarlochan Singh held at SGPC –run Mata Gujri College, Fatehgarh Sahib on Thursday.
Makkar came to college to preside over meeting of SGPC’s Education Committee which was also attended by senior Akali leader Kewal Singh Badal and SGPC secretary Dalmegh Singh. When the meeting was in progress, Takht Sri Damdam Sahib Jathedar Balwant Singh Nandgarh after paying obesaince at Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib arrived in the college and made some discussion with the SGPC president. After some time Takht Sri Kesgarh Jathedar also arrived there. Later they held closed door discussion. Sources said that during the closed door meeting , discussion were held about Dera Sacha Sauda row. When contacted SGPC president , he said that he was a routine meeting. He said that he came to the college to preside over education committee meeting and Jathedars also came in routine. Earlier, talking to media persons, Makkar said that Khalsa Action Committee should follow only the programme issued by Akal Takht about the Dera row. He said that KAC should cooperate with the SGPC in propagating Sikhism to counter the Dera Sacha Sauda. He said dharam parchar committees were being formed in each village of the state to create awareness about Sikh tenets. While presiding over the education committee meeting, Makkar said that in view of more and more students opting for professional courses, the SGPC had decided to introduce various professional courses in the colleges run by it. |
