FATEHGARH SAHIB: Former Akal Takht Jathedar Bhai Ranjit Singh strongly criticised Khalsa Action Committee(KAC) and also sought a clarification from dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh that he was a Sikh or a non-Sikh.
On the sidelines of a religious seminar organised by Shiromani Akali Dal(Amritsar) here Friday, Bhai Ranjit Singh alleged that the KAC was playing in hands of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and is without any concrete programme. He said that the committee members announced to sit on hunger strike in front of Punjab Chief Minister residence on Thursday from 8 am to 5 pm to lodge protest against the arrest of Daljit Singh Bittu but ended the dharna without any logical conclusion. On the Dera row, former Akal Takht Jathedar said that the Dera chief should first clarify that whether he is Sikh or not. He said that if he admited that he was Sikh then he should apologise for his misdeeds in real sense. He said that the Dera chief made every efforts to prove himself as Guru Gobind Singh but wearing same type of clothes but he should not try to follow the path of sacrifice, which was made by the Guru. He said that he had studied around 128 books of the Dera in which quotes from 'Gurbani' is presented in deteriorating sense. On the possibility of summoning of cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu, for attending a 'rudra mahayagya' at Akal Takht, the former Akal Takht Jathedar said that present Jathedar Joginder Singh Vedanti could not dare to summon Sidhu as he can not go against Badal's wishes. He said that Jathedars of various Takhts are getting undue favours from Badal on the pretext of settling Dera Sacha Sauda row. He said that Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Jathedar Giani Balwant Singh Nandgarh got his son promoted from DSP to SP in the peak days of the dera controversy but on the other hand Nandgarh is instigating other people to eliminate the Dera Chief for getting cash reward. He said that Nandgarh should sent his own son and not to instigate other people. Earlier, while addressing the seminar, Bhai Ranjit Singh said that seminars and relgious functions should be organised to educate people about the misdeeds of the Dera chief. He said that only sword can not sovle all problem these days. SAD(A) Acting president Dhian Singh Mand, general secretaries Bhai Ram Singh, Mohinderpal Singh, senior leaders Emaan Singh Mann, Jaskaran Singh also expressed their views.
