ROPAR: Ropar Police have registered a case regarding the attempt to trip the units of Guru Gobind Singh Super Thermal Plant Ropar on July 19.

The case was registered last evening under section 427,511 of IPC and section 3 of Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984 against unknown persons at Ropar sadar police Station.

It may be mentioned that an attempt was made by some unknown persons believed to be striking contract workers to trip the unit no 1,4,5 and 6 with in a span of half an hour on the interveing night of July 18 and 19. However, situation had been saved by the timely action of the engineers.

It may be mentioned that the contract workers of the thermal plant had observed a pen down, tool down strike from July 16 to 19 to press for their demand for pay parity with regular employees.

Although the thermal plant authorities had submitted a written complaint regarding the incident immediately after the occurrence, the Police had registered the case only yesterday evening.

Ropar Sadar SHO Pritam Singh said that police had started investigation in the matter to identify the accused responsible for the attempt to sabotage in the plant.

It may be mentioned that police had already arrested six contract workers of the thermal plant for damaging the railway line in the plant and beating up the workers, who had went to repair the same.
