CHANDIGARH: In a trap laid by Punjab Vigilance Bureau a Sub Divisonal Officer(SDO) working with Punjab State Electricity Board(PSEB) at Morinda was caught red handed while accepting bribe.
Disclosing this here a spokesman of the Vigilance Bureau said that Satpal Singh SDO PSEB Sub-Station Morinda was nabbed red handed by a Vigilance team led by Ashok Kumar, DSP/VB FS-1 Vigilance Bureau Punjab Chandigarh under the supervision of Harcharan Singh Bhullar, Joint Director Vigilance Bureau while he was accepting bribe of Rs. 7000/-. He added that said that t Harnek Singh, of village Jawanda, Distt. Fathegarh Sahib alleged that the above said SDO had already demanded and accepted Rs. 3000/- for installation of new electric transformer for his tubewell and he was demanding another installment of Rs. 7000/- for this purpose. On verifying his complaint VB constituted a raiding team. Satpal Singh SDO was nabbed accepting the bribe of Rs. 7000/- in his office in the presence two official witnesses namely R.P.S. Kanwal O/o Director, Quality Control, Punjab, Chandigarh and Nirmal Singh, Deputy Director, Treasury Punjab, Chandigarh. He further added that a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act have been registered against him at PS/VB FS-1 Vigilance Bureau, Mohali and further investigation was under process.
