CHANDIGARH: Punjab DGP NPS Aulakh today issued directions to the SSP's to initiate all legal and other measures including attachment of properties of Proclaimed Offenders (POs) to arrest them at the earliest.
  

He was presiding over a monthly meeting to review the performance report of SSP's held here Thursday.  The DGP said that ever-increasing list of POs in each district does not reflect well on the working of police department and it was imperative for all SSsP to personally monitor this drive against POs.  He said that a time bound drive should be launched to take all POs in legal net and initiate  proceeding to attach their properties.  
  
The DGP also urged the field officers to launch a special campaign against the practice of illegal lotteries, gambling & satta etc as it besides fleecing the common people was also a big drain on state exchequer. The DGP also asked the officers to tackle such economic crimes by taking professional expertise like involving officials of lotteries Directorate in this regard.
  
He asked the field officers to personally monitor all cases pending in the various courts and legislature matters by according them top priority and categorically said that any laxity on their part would not be tolerated.

He also directed the IGs/Zonal and DIGs/Ranges to personally check the record of police stations and ensure the proper disposal of case properties wherever it was required as per the prescribed norms.
  
Earlier a piping ceremony was held for eight IPS officers namely . V. Neerja, . Anita Punj, . Naresh Kumar, Ram Singh, A.S. Rai,  B. Chandrashekar,  S.S. Srivastava and  P.K. Sinha, who had been granted selection grade.
