Bhattal questions decision to boycott Patiala MC poll Print E-mail

PATIALA: The leader of Congress legislature party in Punjab Assembly Rajinder Kaur Bhattal today criticised the decision of boycotting the Municipal corporation (MC) elections on August 8 in Patiala.

Addressing a news conference here today she said that party will investigate the reasons behind the pulling out the candidates from the pool arena on polling day. 

It is learnt that the former chief Minster Capt. Amarinder Singh who is MLA of Patiala along with Brahm Mohindra, MLA Samana in a joint press briefing at New Moti Bagh Palace around 1.00 pm on August 8 has jointly announced the withdrawal of Congress Candidates from polling. They both have alleged mass poll rigging by SAD workers on the behest of police. Later Local MP Preneet Kaur and Brahm Mohindra have blocked the traffic near Bus stand by over two hours protesting poll rigging. 

Bhattal said that all the congress candidates who have fought corporation elections for Patiala municipal elections will be called in Chandigarh in Punjab Congress Bhavan and will enquire from them that who has ordered to left the field. Party will also enquire under if any congress leader have ordered the pullout have he has taken any approval from PCC president , added Bhattal.

Regarding new president of PCC she said that Congress president Sonia Gandhi and she is going abroad on August 25, She will decide the issue only after coming back. 

Lamenting the law and order situation and atrocities on farmers in Punjab by ruling SAD- BJP government, Bhattal said that Punjab Congress will launch moral boosting drive of Congress workers after Sep. 15 at district levels.  She said that after that recharged congress workers will take head on Punjab Government against atrocities.
