NAWANSHEHAR: A special drive against drugs and female foeticide would be launched in Jalandhar Division in order to curb these evils in the society. Commissioner, Jalandhar Division, S.R.Ladhar stated here Friday during a visit to the Suvidha Centre.
Concerned SHOs would be invited to the seminars which would be organized as part of the drive, said Ladhar, adding that a ban would also be enforced on selling medicines without the prescription of a medical practitioner. Lauding the efforts of the district administration to curb the practice of femicide in association with the NGO Upkar Coordination Society, the Commissioner said the Nawanshahr model would be enforced strictly in the entire division to contain the evil. He added that the Suvidha system would be made people-oriented in the coming days. Registries of lands would be made on enhanced rates from tomorrow, revealed Ladhar. Talking about the much hyped project of the state government to open Adarsh Schools in the state, he said that the villages were being identified for opening such schools. The villages would have to provide 10-15 acres of land for the purpose, he added. DC Gurpal Singh Bhatti, ADC Pritam Singh Johal and other senior functionaries of the administration were present. |
