CHANDIGARH: The Association of Twenty 20 Cricket (India) has been formed with ID Kamboj as its president, Balbir Singh as secretary general and Pankaj Gupta as Finance Secretary.

They and other officie-bearers would also elected unanimously in the meeting which was attended by representatives of 12 State Twenty-20 Associations. Other office-bearers were also unanimously elected. Among them were NRI Harjinder Singh Dhanoa and Manish Kapoor as senior vice presidents. Namdeo Shirgaonkar was also elected working secretary and financial secretary, respectively. The ATC (India) would coopt more office-bearers as consents for other state and union territories have also been received as they could not attend the meeting due to various reasons, said ATC president I D Kamboj. Addressing a press conference at Hotel Taj here today, ID Kamboj said that the the ATC had been formed to promote cricket and provide opportunities to the players to play. The ATC would this year conduct four national tournaments for Under-15, Under 17, Under-19 and Seniors. Replying to a question, Kamboj said the ATC would allow any player who is selected to represent the country. Giving details of the activities conducted by the Chandigarh Twenty20 Cricket Association, Kamboj said that besides organising Inter-State National Tournaments, the CTTCA also hosted a prize money National Open Tournament. On the question of appointing umpires and scorers, general secretary Balbir Singh said "ATC will form its own panels and soon the state associations would be sending interested cricketers to attend national clinics for umpires and scorers." |
