Two persons killed in Punjab Gurdawara shoot out Print E-mail

AMRITSAR: Dispute over renovation of a Sikh shrine in village Issapur near here on Saturday took bloody turn when a group of 'miscreants' led by Baba Lal Singh and Nirmal Singh indiscriminately fired gun shots killing two persons Saroop Singh (28) and Harpreet Singh (23) inside the village Gurdawara.

According to SSP (Senior Superintendent of Police) Amritsar( Rural) Iqbal Singh the alleged accused Baba Lal Singh and Nirmal Singh along with eighteen others trespassed in the Gurdwara at village Issapur in Ajnala Tehsil with arms and ammunition and fired gun shots wherein two people were killed on the spot.

Police said that the alleged accused trespassed in the Gurdwara with the intention to take over the renovation work forcibly. Earlier the alleged accused were expelled from the renovation work of Gurdwara by the village Panchayat. 

Meanwhile police has sent the bodies of Saroop Singh and Harpreet Singh for postmortem in Amritsar Government Medical College

Police has booked Baba Lal Singh and Nirmal Singh and eighteen others under section of 302, 120-B of IPC and 25-54-59 of Arms and ammunition Act. SSP said that few people were rounded up but no arrest has been made so far.
