NHAI gives contract for Amritsar-Wagah road widening |

CHANDIGARH:The work on 4-laning of Amritsar-Wagah Border of NH-1 connecting International Border between India and Pakistan was put on fast track with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Thursday awarding the contract of this prestigious project to M/s Rohan–Rajdeep-IDFC Consortium.
Disclosing this here Thursday Parminder Singh Dhindsa, PWD (B&R) Minister said that this could have been possible only with the sustained efforts of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal who had met Union Surface Transport Minister twice for early execution of this project to give an impetus to trade between India & Pakistan, through road route passing through Wagah Border. The Minister said that under National Highways Development Project (NHDP) Phase III, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Thursday awarded this Project for 4-laning of Amritsar-Wagah Border Section of NH-1, on Build, Operate & Transfer (BOT) Annuity basis. The PWD Minister said that this Rs. 205.88 crore project involving 4-laning of 36 km of existing two lane highway that connects International Border between India and Pakistan would be completed within 24 months. The Project has been awarded to M/s Rohan–Rajdeep-IDFC Consortium with 20 Years Concession Period including construction period of 2 years. The work has been awarded with semi annuity amount of Rs. 18.45 crores payable to the concessionaire by National Highways Authority of India. Dhindsa thanked National Highways Authority of India for expediting the process of tendering and award of contract of this prestigious project that would act as a catalyst in the growth of trade between two neighbouring countries. |
