Punjab suspends licenses of 7 ration depots |

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Government Sunday suspended seven more ration depots in the State after detection of various irregularities during intensive checking campaign launched by the Food and Supply Department for effective implementation of this welfare scheme of the government.
It may be added that the department last week had registered FIR against three ration depots and suspended the supply of 72 others depots for various irregularities detected during the checks. The spokesman said that the teams of Food & supply Department had conducted more than 1933 surprise raids on various ration depots to check irregularities in the implementation of Kanak-Dal Scheme. Meanwhile the State Government has activated its distribution machinery for smooth supply of Kanak & Dal to the beneficiaries in the month of September. All Ration depots who had deposited money for September stock had been issued direction to lift the stock from respective warehouses latest by 15th September. It would be mandatory of each ration depot to start distribution stock by 16th September till end of this month. |
