Punjab govt bans Hindi book on Guru Granth Sahib |

CHANDIGARH;Punjab Government had banned the Hindi book "Shri Guru Granth Sahib' –Sant Panapdas ji ki Wani, written by Sant Panapdas ji, Mohalla Lohiayan Dhampur (Distt. Bijnaur), U.P as it contains objectionable material which will promote resentment amongst the Sikh Community and Outage its religious feeling and is defamatory to Sikh religion.
Disclosing this here Tuesday a spokesman of the Punjab Home Affairs Department said that after carefully going through the aforesaid book the Punjab Government is of the opinion that the matter in the book hurts the religious feeling of Sikh Community and also promotes enmity between different groups of Society on the grounds of religion, which is an offence under section 501, 153-A and 205-A of the Indian Panel Code 1860. Now, the Punjab Government exercising of powers conferred by Sub-Section (i) of Section 95 of the code of criminal procedure, 1973 had banned the circulation, Sale and possession of the aforesaid book and its translation in any language and its reprints to be forfeited to the Government in the territory of the Punjab State, the spokesman. |
