CHANDIGARH: The first mobile court in Punjab would be launched at Talwara in district Hoshiarpur by the Hon'ble Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court Justice Vijender Jain and Chief Minister Punjab Parkash Singh Badal on October 2nd, the birth anniversary of Father of Nation Shri. Mahatma Gandhi.
Stating this here Friday, a spokesman of the state government said that the concept of mobile court aimed at taking Justice closer to the people so that those living in remote areas were able to benefit without incurring expenditure on traveling. The decision to introduce a mobile court at Talwara has been taken because of its location comparative isolation and backwardness. The mobile court would take up cases at four centers namely Jandwal, Talwara, Hazipur and Kamahi Devi and would be held on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays by rotation beginning from October 4 to October 30. The spokesman also said that on Wednesdays and Saturdays the presiding officers would be holding regular court at Dasuya. Adding further the spokesman said that the mobile court would be a regular court and transact all kinds of judicial business. It would also take cognizance of criminal cases on the basis of police reports or criminal complaints. The hearing of the cases would be just like a regular court, the spokesman added. |
