CHANDIGARH: MBB GGG Girls College, Rattewal proved too good for Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 23 by recording a cakewalk win with one turn and 11 points in the women open category quarter-final match in he sixth Challenger Kho-Kho Tournmaent being organised by Chandigarh Kho-Kho Welfare Club at the Government Model High School, Sector 43-A here Saturday.

Welfare Club of Chandigarh and Coaching Centre, Sector 32 also advanced to the semi-final. In quarter-final encounter, Welfare Club faced a stiff challenge from Guru Nanak Club before prevailing over their spirited rivals by a wafer-thin one point margin (10-9). In another quarter-final match, Coaching Centre of Sector 32 snuffed out the challenge of Government High School, Sector 40 by 20-14.

DAV School, Sector 15 will face GSSS-37 in the girls Under-14 semi-final while Chandigarh Club-35 are pitted against Government MHS-40 in the second semi-final in the girls Under-14 category. In quarter-finals, DAV-15 beat Govt MHS-43 by innings and 8 pts and Chandigarh Club beat Govt ModelHS-40 by 20-11 pts, In the third quarter-final Govt Middle HS-46 ousted Kids-R-Kids by one turn and 11 points.

The semi-final line-up in the boys Under-14 is: Coaching Centre-43 vs St Joseph Club-44 and Govt High School Dharamgarh vs Baptist School-45.

Earlier, Bhartiya Jan Shakti (Chandigarh Unit) president L K Khurana inauguarted the tournament in which 40 teams are taking part.

Results: Boys Under-14 (QFs): Baptish School-45 bt DAV School-15 by 11-10; St Joseph's Club-44 bt Government High School-40 by innings and 17 points, Government High School Dharamgarh bt Govt High School-32 by 21-10 pts; Coaching Centre-43 bt Golden Club by 21-11.
Semi-final line-up: CC-43 vs St Joseph's Club and Government High School Dharamgarh  vs Baptish School-45.

Pre-quarter-finals: St Joseph's Club-44 bt GSS-45 by 21-11; Govt High School-40 bt Govt High School-46 by 10-7; Government High School Dharamgarh bt Govt Middle School-46 by innints qand one pt; Govt High School-32 bt Kids-R-Kids-42 by innings and 10 pts.

Girls U-14 (Q-finals): DAV-15 bt GMHS-43 by innings and 8 pts, Chandigarh Club bt GMHS-40 by 20-11, Govct Middle HS-46 bt Kids-R-Kids-42 by innings and 11 pts, GSSS-37 bye.
