JALANDHAR: Condemning the planned attack on the offices of vernacular daily 'Spokesman', the Dal Khalsa asked the Punjab government to act strictly against Divya Jyoti Jagran sect led by Aushotosh.
Leaders of the organization H S Dhami and Kanwarpal Singh visited the local civil hospital to inquire about the condition of Tarlok Singh Khalsa, a journalist associated with the newspaper. Mr Khalsa was dragged and severely beaten up by women activists of DJJS at the newspapers office.
The manner in which the hooligans of DJJS carried out the attack at 7 offices of the newspaper in 7 different cities at the same time clearly shows that a large conspiracy was hatched to create disharmony in the state. The dilly-dallying on the part of the administration reflects the tactical support of the government, said Dhami. Urging the government to book the sect head under 120-B IPC beside the hooligans they alleged that the conspiracy was hatched by none other than Aushotosh himself.
Calling all organizations to express solidarity with the aggrieved persons who bore the brunt of the attack, they said irrespective of our ideological differences with the owner of the newspaper, we must unite to nail anti-Sikh activities of DJJS. The concept of living Guru mainly called Gurudom is contrary to Sikh philosophy and principles. It must be nipped in the bud said Kanwar pal.
They alleged that Aushotosh was discredited for playing with the religious sentiments of the community.
Dal Khalsa strongly condemned the role of the police that stood as a mute spectator at the time of the attack. They appealed to all citizenry of the state to wake up to the call of justice, human rights and harmony.
Dal Khalsa gives a clarion call to all journalists to stand up for rule of law.  We will not be wrong in repeating the quote of Neimoller on this occasion:
"First they came for the trade unionists but I kept quiet because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for communists but I kept quiet because I was not a communist
Then they came for Jews but I kept quiet because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak for me".
