FATEHGARH SAHIB: Senior officers of the district administration today assembled at District Administrative Complex here to take oath of rededication to themselves to the path shown by Mahatma Gandhi on the first 'international Day of non-violence' to mark the Gandhi Jayanti.
In an impressive and solemn ceremony at 11:32 AM , Fatehgarh Sahib Deputy Commissioner Alaknanda Dayal, SSP Nilabh Kishore along with all others officials took the oath administered by Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh through National Level live telecast programme on Doordarshan. The officers took the pledge to make India a classless, colourless and casteless country which will have no high class and low class of people and curse of untouchablility and every person will have equal rights. Though the state government had declared holiday on October 2 on account of birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi but the government officials assembled at district administrative complex to take pledge. Sources said earlier it was plan of Punjab government to administer the oath through video conferencing to officials of various districts by the CS but later the programme was modified. Sources said that the programme was modified as facility of video conferencing does not exist in all districts of the state. As per the directions issued on Monday by the CS , it may be ensured that the pledge is taken by the students/teachers and staff of the educational institutions in the districts but these orders were not followed in most of the schools as it was closed. |
