FATEHGARH SAHIB: A one day faculty development workshop was organized Tuesday for the faculty members for improving teachingmethods for the benefit of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (HMCT) students at Desh Bhagat Hotel Management Institute, Mandi Gobindgarh.
The objective of the event was to provide a platform to teach the future custodians of the profession to improve upon the present teaching system and expose practically in a better way while keeping pace with the global changes in the Hospitality Industry. Monmohan Singh of Aroma and Gurvinder Singh of Khyber, Chandigarh were the keynote speakers. Shalini Gupta, Director of Desh Bhagat Group of Institutes, welcomed the guests . While speaking on the occasion Manmohan Singh highlighted about the usages of State of the Art Technology by the faculty members to ensure effective teaching and learning process. He emphasized upon team building and adopting innovative methods in teaching. He pointed out as to how professional work and life experience can help in looking for a way to enter into business or profession effectively. He said that one has to experience the Hospitality Industry in action practically. He gave different tips to improve skills appropriate to production, operation and application. Gurvinder Singh emphasized for developing an understanding and over viewing the Industry to take up theory into practice effectively. He said that the students should be encouraged to work on different projects in Hospitality Industry while studying. In her valedictory address, Shalini Gupta advised the faculty members of HMCT to keep abreast with the latest developments and systems (theoretical as well as practical) so as to prepare the budding HM professionals with great acumen. She said that their education and training should be meaningful and job oriented and it should combine ethical and technical knowledge both so that our pass outs may be inducted in good positions with lucrative pay package in three or five star Hotels. She said that at present there is great boom in this Industry with in India and Abroad. She thanked the Resource persons, and the faculty members for participating and spending their valuable time and sharing their views to make it successful. |
