LUDHIANA: Atleast six people were killed and 20 injured in a bomb blast in Shingar Cinema in Ludhiana at 8.40 PM on Sunday. A bhojpuri film 'Janam Janam Ka Saath' was being screened at the time of blast.

Punjab DGP NPS.Aulakh said that state police had already sounded an alert due to festival season and 'Ram Lila's' being played in various cities. He said it would be too early to name anyu terrorist outfit for the blast. He said that most of the people present in theater were migrant labourers.

Former Punjab DGP K.P.S. Gill however said that Babbar Khalsa might be responsible fo the blast. He said that Babbar Khalsa was trying to eastablish its base in Punjab.

The reports from Ludhiana said that cinema hall was full at the time of blast. This is after over a decade that any such blast took place in Punjab.  The blast took place immediately aferr interval. Punjab DGP said that some mkiscreants might have planted bomb during interval. He said that itw was low intensity blast.
