SARDULGARH (MANSA): Thousands of people from all walks of life participated int he Bhog cermony of Balraj Singh son of senior Akali Leader Balwinder Singh Bhundar on Sunday. Balraj Singh had died of cardaia arrest last week. He was senior vice president of Youth Akali Dal.
Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal a family friend of Bhundars was among the mourners. He announced to set up a degree college in memory of the departed soul. He took no time in handing over a cheque of Rs 1 crore and promised to send Rs 2.40 crore in a couple of days. The amount will be collected from discretionary quota of all the 17 minister and parliamentary secretaries. 17 ministers will pour in Rs 10 lakh each whereas 14 parliamentary secretaries will contribute Rs 5 lakh each. Sukhbir Badal too announced to set up of a school in memory of Balraj with a corpse of Rs 20 lakh. Offering condolences, Badal said Balraj always used to complain about lack of educational facilities in his area and often used to demand a degree college, a skill centre and streamlining the water supply system in the area. Sukhbir on his part called Balraj a dedicated youth leader. BJP state president Rajinder Bhandari, CPI national council member Joginder Dayal, Lok Bhalai Party chief and former Union minister Balwant Singh Ramoowalia, SAD(A) chief Simranjeet Singh Mann, public relations minister Bikram Singh Majithia, speaker Nirmal Singh Kahlon and the entire cabinet of Badal also paid floral tributes. |
