Punjab finalises draft for Punjab Ayurved University Act

CHANDIGARH: A high level committee headed by Dr. S.K. Mishra, Former Advisor Government of India AYUSH Monday presented the interim report and draft bill of the Punjab Ayurved University Act, 2007 for setting up of Punjab Ayurved University at Kharkan (Hoshiarpur).

 



 The draft bill has suggested that the proposed university should have the power to grant recognition to all educational institutes providing education in non-allopathic systems including Ayurved, Homeopathic and other non-allopathic systems.   The proposed university would have full control for affiliation, academic and administrative control and standardization of curriculum of all non-allopathic systems of education.

 The bill also suggested the standardization of education system of non-allopathic system of education with a focus on Research and Development activities in these fields. The bill also suggested the setting up of specialization in these fields by introducing post-graduate courses.

 A herbal garden on piece of land measuring five acre would come up in proposed campus to provide on-hand education to the students and also to provide seeds of rare herbs to the small farmers. The draft also suggested a special package for small farmers opting for   the cultivation of herbs in Punjab.

 It may be added that Punjab Government had earmarked a 25 acre peace land to set up Punjab Ayurved University in Hoshiarpur.

Prominent among others who were present on the occasion included Mr. Jagjit Puri, Secretary Medical Education & Research, Dr. Jasjit Singh, Director Ayush, Dr. Sanjeev Goyal, Registrar Ayurvedic Medical Board Punjab.
