Max India likely to join hands with Thapar group to set up education hub in Punjab Print E-mail

PATIALA: Max India group is willing to set up medical college as well as business school in Punjab and will spent 225 crores in it.  This was disclosed by Analjit Singh, chairman- Max India- Max New York life Insurance Company and Max Healthcare, during a press conference here today in Thapar university.

 

He was here to preside over the 21st convocation of Thapar University.  He said that the surroundings of Chandigarh and Patiala were best possible area to develop as education hub and he was more interested to set up both the institutes in these areas. Initially he wanted to spent 100 crores on Business school and over 125 cores on medical college and hospital. 

He said that to materialize the project he recently met the Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and asked him to give land for it. He said that the response of chief minister Parkash Singh Badal was very much encouraging.

He said that Max Healthcare was the country's first comprehensive provider of standardized, seamless, integrated and world-class healthcare services. Which was committed to the highest standards of medical and service excellence, patient care, scientific knowledge and medical education. Max Healthcare operates seven centers in Delhi & NCR, offering services in over 30 medical disciplines, said Analjit Singh.

"India has been recognised globally as a healthcare destination for high quality and cost effective medical care.," said Analjit Singh.

During the press conference, Gautam Thapar, president of Thapar University and chairman of BILT and Crompton Greaves have offered land for the institutes. Analjit Singh immediately responded and said that they will happy to utilize the earnest experience of thapar's  in the field of education.

It is pertinently mentioned that Thapar Group has also shown its interest to open similar type of institutes and when asked about their plans Gautam Thapar said that they are ready to provide land to Max India for this purpose. 

Analjit Singh said that he would be happy that if this joint venture would take its final shape as no work would be done without the joint ventures. 

Later Analjit Singh conferred the degrees to the graduating students. Professor Ashok Misra, Director Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, was awarded a doctor of science ( Honoris Causa) for his significant contribution to the knowledge in the the field of chemical and polymers.
