CHANDIGARH: As much as 15.90 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has arrived in the mandis of Haryana so far and out of this six government procuring agencies have procured 9.30 lakh metric tonnes of paddy so far while the Millers have purchased 6.59 lakh MTs of paddy.
This was disclosed by the Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Chander Mohan here today. He said that a sum of Rs. 985 crore has been arranged as cash credit limit. The arrival of paddy is peaking up as the purchase of the paddy had been started from September 26. While enumerating the details of purchase of the paddy made by six government agencies, he said that HAFED had procured 4.03 lakh MTs, of paddy, Food and Supplies Department had procured 2.98 lakh MTs of paddy, Agro Industries Corporation 1.13 lakh MTs, Confed 86,439 MTs and Haryana Warehousing Corporation 26,077 MTs of paddy and Food Corporation of India 2794 MTs. The Deputy Chief Minister said the Kurukshetra district was on the top in arrival of paddy in all the districts of the State as the arrival at Kurukshetra was 4.34 lakh MTs of paddy followed by Karnal 3.40 lakh MTs, Fatehabad 2.43 lakh MTs, Kaithal 2.00 lakh MTs, Ambala 1.10 lakh MTs, Yamunanagar 73,241 MTs and Sirsa 72,638 MTs. Chander Mohan said that the payment to the farmers was being made within 48 to 72 hours. He said that a target of 20 lakh tonnes of paddy had been fixed by the State Government for the current Kharif season.
