AMRITSAR: The teaching as well as the research is the noblest profession in the world. The teachers play an important role in the nation building. They should regularly keep their knowledge updated. These views were expressed by Dr. S.S. Bhatti, Director of Adesh Institute of Engineering and Technology, Faridkot here Thursday.
Bhatti was here to inaugurate a 3-week Refresher Course in Computer Science/Electronics/I.T being organized by the Academic Staff College of the Guru Nanak Dev University. Dr. Derick Engles, Professor of Electronics Technology and Communication, Dr. Karanjit Singh Kahlon, Head of Computer Science and Engineering, Dr. Maninderlal Singh, Head Electronics Technology, Dr. Gurwinder Singh of Computer Science Department and Dr. H.S. Bhatia, Director Academic Staff College also expressed their views on this occasion. More than 21 teachers from various colleges and Universities of northern region are participating in this Refresher Course. Dr. Bhatti said information technology is not the substitute of human mind so the teachers should always keep on updating their knowledge to sharpen their minds in this era of globalization. He emphasized that for a teacher, knowledge dissemination and updating is must. It is important for a teacher to have a sense of contentment and a sense of contribution towards society. He said the significant issue was what you could give to the world rather than what you earn materialistically. Dr. Singh said teaching is the noblest profession as their contribution in the development of society as well as nation is unparallel. He said the teacher would always be disseminating their knowledge what they had acquired. He advised them to be satisfied and proud of their profession. Dr. H.S. Bhatia while explaining the aims and objectives of the refresher course laid stress on the need to promote computer literacy and internet technology. He also talked about the challenges of the modern world order. Earlier Dr. Derick Engles, course coordinator stressed the need of convergence of the technology for the benefit of society. Dr. Gurwinder Singh, of Computer Science and Engineering emphasized the importance of refreshing and updating the teaching community as scientific specialization could no longer grow in isolation. Dr. Karanjit Singh Kahlon, Head of the Computer Science and Engineering presented a vote of thanks. |
