FATEHGARH SAHIB: The Bassi Pathana police finally succeeded to trace a minor girl Lakjit Kaur (name change) daughter of Bhag Singh, a resident of village Kotla near Bassi Pathana, who was allegedly abducted by a self styled 'Baba' Pran Nath from her school.

The 17 year old girl , who belongs to Dalit community ,was student of  Government Elementary School, Gopalon and the Baba allegedly abducted the girl from the school on October 3   on some pretext . On Bhag Singh's statement the police had registered a case under sections 363, 366-A of the IPC and started
investigations.

Sources said that Bassi Pathana police laid a naka near village Nandpur Kalur and during the checking the Baba was arrested and girl was recovered from him.  The medical examination of the girl was conducted at Civil Hospital, Fatehgarh Sahib while the medical examination of the Baba was conducted Civil Hospital, Bassi Pathana.

Though the Bassi Pathana police have solved the mystery of this case but mystery shrouds the disappearance of another minor girl Ranjit Kaur(name changed)of village Abdullapur near Bassi Pathana.   The parents alleged that their 16 year old daughter had eloped with her brother's friend .

The girl has been missing from her home since August 9 this year. As per the girl parents, her mother after returning from work had discovered that the girl was missing. After inquiring about her from the neighbours and relatives, the parents concluded that she had fled with one Rajbir Singh, a resident of Baur village, who worked with the girl's brother and used to frequently visit their house. The matter was reported to the police, following which a case was registered.

Sources said that on August 15, police took the parents of the girl to a canal near Rauni village of district Ludhiana, where they showed them the slippers of their daughter and a scooter that belonged to Rajbir Singh.

Sources said that after the parents identified the slippers to be of their daughter, the police concluded that the duo committed suicide by jumping into the canal. However, the parents told the police that the slippers and the scooter had deliberately been left there to mislead them. They told the police that one of the friends of Rajbir Singh had complete information about his whereabouts.

Police officials said that bodies of the two had not been recovered so there is possibility that they are still alive. It is suspected that the duo had tried to mislead the police by leaving the slippers and the scooter along the canal.
