FATEHGARH SAHIB: An unidentified person hacked the password of a District Rotary Governor Bhupinder Singh Jaggi, a resident of Sirhind town of district Fatehgarh Sahib then the hacker made a request to Jaggi's close friend to send him 2,000 US Dollar immediately.
The hacker tried to show that Jaggi is in financial crisis so he needs financial assistance of 2,000 US Dollar. On the complaint of Jaggi, the Sirhind police has registered a case against an unidentified person under sections 65 and 66 of Information and Technology Act and 420 of the IPC. In his complaint to police, Jaggi said that he had got e-mail from 'yahoos verify service' on October 19 to verify some facts. There was warning in the message saying that if he will not respond to the e-mail, his services will be terminated and all the matter contained in the e-mail account will be lost. Jaggi said that in response to that e-mail, as required he had written his yahoo e-mail ID, country name and the password. The hacker had assured him that information supply by him will be secured. After passing information to the hacker, Jaggi was surprised when he got a message from his close friend TPS Sethi of Bariley that he had received a request from his e-mail address for sending money to him. Jaggi said after hearing he tried to open his e-mail account but it could not be opened because of invalid password and lack of other information. He said he asked his frined to forward e-mail received by him from hacker to his son to e-mail account. He was surprised to see the details of e-mail and then complained to police. |
