Fatehgarh DCFATEHGARH SAHIB: The 1995 batch IAS officer of Punjab cadre Jaspreet Talwar, who joined Fatehgarh Sahib as 13th Deputy Commissioner on May 17 has completed one year in her office. Wife of SAS Nager Deputy Commissioner, Tejvir Singh, this young DC has got a heart of a woman and unmatched qualities of an administrator.

Before her joining as a DC at Fatehgarh Sahib has performed duties as  Secretary, Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB); SDM Tarn Tarn, Additional Chief Administrator (ACA), ASUDA, Anandpur Sahib; ACA, Ludhiana and Addl. Registrar, Co-operative Societies, Chandigarh. Jaspreet, who did B.Sc, L.L.M was born on February 13, 1969.

Historical and religious district Fatehgarh Sahib has witnessed rapid strides during her one year tenure as several development projects were initiated in the district with her efforts. Talwar, who is considered as a polite and caring DC, always gives patient hearing to the public grievances.

According to some senior citizens of the district, young officers like Jaspreet Talwar are very much suitable to the unending anti-corruption endeavor of Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh. They said it is apparent that consequent to the takeover of these type of officers, there is almost total normalcy, no corruption allegations and attitude of public officials of the district has become praiseworthy. The residents of the district demanded from the Chief Minister that it is appreciable if officers like Talwar, who are his real representatives continue to remain in the historical district for adequate time, where younger sons of tenth Sikh Guru Gobind Singh, were bricked alive.

Incidentally, Jaspreet Talwar is a woman Deputy Commissioner of Fatehgarh Sahib district which got the dubious distinction of having the lowest girl ratio in the country. After her joining she took it seriously and started various programmes to education people regarding female foeticide and other social evils. She herself monitored the historical Fatehgarh Sahib Shaheedi Jor Mela, where lakhs of devotees from all over the world paid their obeisance. She also organized the gala reception to an international celebrity Prince Charles and made Charles visit the district.
Jaspreet Talwar has keen interest in landscaping and had used her experience and interest in beatifying various important pockets of the district. She has dealt strongly with anti social elements and drug peddlers and even issued orders at various times to chemists for not selling banned drugs.

Contrary to routine bureaucrats, who believe in remaining in news by inaugurating various functions or laying foundation stones of various projects, Gurpreet believes  in work rather than publicity in the media. During the World Red Cross Day, she inaugurated the blood donation camp by donating blood herself rather than just inaugurating it. Mata Gujri College, Fatehgarh Sahib principal Dr Gurmohan Singh Walia, Baba Zorawar Singh Fateh Singh Senior Secondary Public School principal R.S Bajwa while appreciating the work of Jaspreet Talwar said that officers are role model of people so they should set up such examples, which could motivate people to work for social cause.
