Gone are the days when women, so often called the weaker section were indeed considered weak. Now when the word women strike our ears, simultaneously other words like power, commitment   sincerely, hard work, and optimism comes to mind. And to celebrate this empowerment and fruit full struggle of women, International women's day came into being.

 It is the universal day that connects all women around the world. It is an important day abecause the collective power of women is witnessed by millions around the world and the brave achievements of moment in part, present and future are respectfully honoured and further inspirits them to achieve their full potential. Many a woman from India and abroad have prowd. The mankind  come whatever comes in her way she won't gets away and will complete her journey parking through all odds fulfilling her all dreams, holding the sky in her hands, making her way but mean the rainbow and high up she fly with wings of hope.         Not going too far, Kalpana Chawla, Indira Gandhi, Kiran Bedi, Mother Terressa and Helen Keller have always remained real gem of  women hood inspiriting others and listening stories of their success is something which every girl yearns for.     

 Kalpana Chawla - went Ahead even of Kalpana            First India born American Astronaut           

   Kalpana Chawla dreamed and lived her deram. She was born into a conservative traditional middle clears family in the small town of Karnal in district Haryana. youngist of four children while studying and painting aero planes instead of playing with out children. Sanjay her only companion mentor and brother who also dreamed of flying but could not make it due to medical problems.  

 Kalpana's love for the sky and space started early during her childhood. Her school papers and projects were all about star, planets and space. He father, a business man wanted her to become a doctor but he was horrified when the chose flying as her career. Her father resisted but she managed to win over her father family's objecctions and become Punjab Engineering Collage's (PEC) first woman aeronautical engineer when she graduated in 1982 Then her father wanted her to get married and settle down again Kalpana prevailed. In USA, she got her masters from the University of Texas, Arlington and a doctrate from University of Colorado in 1988. After completing Ph.D in Aerospace Engineering, Kalpana Chawla was hired by MCAT Institute, San Jose, California as a Research Scientist to support research in the area of powered fin at NASA Ames Research cnter California. In 1993 Dr. Kalpana Chawla joined overset methods Inc., Los Altos, California, as vice president and research scientist . In 1994 she was one of the 19 people selected from 2,962 applicants by NASA to become an astrovaut. She reported to the Jonson Space center in March 1995 and met her husband, French flying instructor and aviation writer Jean-Pierse Harrison.     On January 16th, 2003, space shuttle Columbia blasted off with first India-born American astronaut Kalpana Chawla and 7 other  crew members. Former Prime Minister A B Vajpayee announced that METSAT, the metrcorological research satellite will be renamed after her. 

 Kiran Bedi -   A super COP- First Indian woman who joined IPS. Kiran Bedis fearless and humane approach has contributed greatly to innumerable innovative policing and prison reforms. The most celebrated police officer, Kiran Bedi has been awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award also called for government service, the Joseph Beuys Award by a German Asian Nobil Prize foundation and the Asia Region Award for drug prevention of good templars (IOGT) a Norwegian organization, Besides this two voluntary organizations founded and supervised by her - Navjyoti set up in 1988 and India Vision Foundation in 1994 reach out to thousands of poor children daily for primary education, women for adult literacy, provide vocational training and counseling services in the slums, rural areas and inside the prison apart from anti drug addiction treatment. Nationally and internationally recognised, her organisation was awarded with the serge soti roff memorial Award for drug abuse by the United Nations.            Kiran, second of the four daughters was born in an extraordinary families with visionary parets. An Asian Tennis Champion Kiran is a law degree holder, has a doctorate in the field of drug abuse and domestic violence. Kiran is an authors and subject of various books and films.    

         Indira Gandhi : 1917-1984 As the leader of India, the world's most populous democracy Indira Gandhi became an influential figure for Indian women as well as for others around the world.Helen Keller : 1880-1968     A childhood disease left her deaf, mute and blind, Helen Keller became an expert author and lecturer, educating on behalf of others with similar  disabilities.Mother Terressa : 1910-1997 Founder of religious group of nuns in Calcutta, India mother Terressa a devoted her life to aiding sick and poor people throughout the world.
