Kin of 40 martyr soldiers to get jobs in Punjab |

CHANDIGARH: A high powered committee constituted by the Punjab Government for rehabilitating the next of kin/dependents of the martyrs of various operations Thursday met under the chairmanship of Ramesh Inder Singh, Chief Secretary and recommended the names of 40 eligible dependents to various departments for providing them government jobs.
Disclosing this here Thursday a spokesman of the Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Punjab said that in 1999, Post Operation Vijay (Kargil War between India and Pakistan), the State Government had initiated a major initiative towards rehabilitating the next of kin/dependents of martyrs by providing government jobs to atleast one member of the family/dependent based on his/her qualification and to screen all such cases a high powered committee was constituted under the Chief Secretary. The last meeting of the committee was held on 13th June, 2005. Prominent amongst others who present in the meeting included G.S.Sandhu, Principal Secretary, Defence Services Welfare, R.S.Sandhu, Financial Commissioner Development and Brig. I.S.Gokhal, Director Sainik Welfare, Punjab. |
