CHANDIGARH: Darshan Singh Sayal has taken over as Director & Warden, Fisheries, Punjab. The earlier incumbent  Jitender Vir Sharma attained superannuation on 31.08.2007.

After holding charge  Sayal said that he would translate his long experience of working at Government Fish Seed Farms into increasing the quality Fish Seed production in the state by strengthening and modernizing the existing farms. He said that his efforts would be directed at enhancing the income of Fish Farmers and bringing about blue revolution in the state. He said that the department would also endeavour to increase the fish production from present 6500 kg. per hectare to 10000 kg. per hectare by using modern techniques of fish production.

Sayal had joined the Fisheries Department on 25th March, 1971 as fisheries officer and during his long service span of 37 years, he served as farm superintendent at different fish farms of the state for 25 years.
