AMRITSAR: Internal security of the nation is under threat due to the infiltration of militants from Jammu and Kashmir Border.
Addressing to the media persons here today, Director General Border BSF (Border Security Force) A.K. Mitra said that Jammu and Kashmir Border is vulnerable and sensitive, since this border being used by the militants to infiltrate to India from Pakistan. Adding further Mitra said that presently most of the smuggling activities were from the J&K border. Keeping in view of present circumstances BSF keeping special vigil on entire J&K border, he said. Talking over the Retreat Ceremony which is being conducted by BSF on Attari Check post, A.K. Mittra said the gone are the days when people used to think that daily parade of BSF was infusing the injection of hartered in the minds of thousands of visitors due to the aggressive body gestures. Mitra said that BSF on Indian side has significantly tone downed its aggressive postures during the Retreat ceremony when both India and Pakistan come forward for flag lowering ceremony during the sunset at Attrai Check post. Mitra said that now Pakistan has recently also started to reciprocate the Indian BSF during the evening parade as Pakistani Rangers has also tone downed its aggressive postures. “With the recent change in the behaviour of BSF and Pakistan Rangers it would be wrong to say that the parade was infusing the injection of hatred in the minds of visitors on both sides”, said Mitra. Mitra said, “Moreover, daily evening parade on Indian side and as well as Pakistani side is more or less ‘TAMASHA’ (public show) just for the entertainments of daily visitors and after seeing they forget it. As a reason people of both sides never take the actions of forces seriously”. The motive behind the Retreat Ceremony is to entertainments the public and nothing else or to attract more and more people to see the Indo-Pak border, said Mitra. Talking about the movements of Indian and Pakistani trucks for trade activities through the Attari Check Post, Mitra ruled out the chances of smuggling and terrorism due to the political instability in Pakistan since the present setup of Pakistan Government was busy enough to deal with the internal security of the nation. Adding further Mitra said, “I have also asked the Director General of Border Guarding Force of Bangladesh Shakeel Ahmed for introducing Retreat Ceremony on the pattern of Attari Check Post but he refused to agree with the proposal Of Indian BSF after visiting the Attari Check post as he did not like it”. Talking about the infiltration of Bangladeshi nationals Mitra said, “To make the entire border fenced was such a Hercules job. Unless the entire border was fenced, it would be difficult to stop infiltration, since there were rivers on international border, even some houses which are on Indian Territory has also some portion which falls on the territory of Bangladesh”. Mitra said, “The main job of the BSF is to guard the international borders or to help Indian Army during the days of wars and now the situation is altogether different. Now Government started to depute BSF for election duties and to deal with the anti insurgency operations inspite of the facts that BSF is not well equipped and well trained to deal such jobs”. Adding further Mitra said, “BSF is unable to deal anti riot operations since BSF lacking body protector jacket, wooden rods and sophisticated weapons”. Mitra also lashed on the attitude of Indian Railways and State Governments which never bothered to give adequate accommodation, Railway platform and trains to BSF after the election duty to move back on their destination. |
