FATEHGARH SAHIB: Seven people including two children were killed Sunday in a collision between a Ford Ikon car and tanker near village Adamopr on Sirhind-Patiala road in Fatehgarh Sahib district.
In a separate incident, a scooterist was crushed by a gan tanker last night here near village Sanipur on GT road. He is identified as Jaspal Singh of Ludhiana. The victims of car accident were reportedly returning their home in Sanaur in Patiala district after attending a marriage function at Morinda in Ropar district when their car hit the tanker. The deceased included Sanaur resident Gaurav (20), his mother Salochana Devi(50), his sister Parul (24) and her husband Shivam of Phillaur in Jalandhar district. The four year old son and six month old daughter of Parul and Shivam also died in the accident. The seventh victim is Ricky of Malerkotla who was cousin of Gaurav who died on way to hospital while all other had died on spot. The mingled remains of car were removed with difficulty to remove the bodies. he engine of the car was lying away from the vehicle. The tanker driver managed to escape. Police has registered a case and dead bodies were handed over to their families. In another case, a STD booth owner ParkashDabar yesterday night committed suicide here. He belonged to Jalandhar and was running STD Booth on GT road near wine shop. According to police, deceased was found hanging from ceiling fan in the 'ahata' (drinking place) adjoining wine shop. Police has recorded proceedings under section 174 of cr.p.c. on statement of Sonia wife of the deceased. Police said that reason for suicide could not be ascertained.
