CHANDIGARH: Member Parliament from Rohtak, Deepinder Singh Hooda Sunday criticised the Punjab Chief Minister,Parkash Singh Badal for his misleading statements on the issue of Hansi-Butana link canal saying that Badal had been trying to gain political mileage out of this issue.
Deepinder said this at village Kanheli in Rohtak district where he unveiled the statue of social worker Ms.Phoola Devi. Hooda pointed out that the Central Water Commission had given opportunity to Punjab to submit its viewpoint on the issue of Hansi-Butana link canal and Haryana had already made its stand clear to the Commission. He said that Haryana was not claiming Punjab's share of water out exerting its right on its own share. He said that some politically selfish leaders were now becoming nervous because the Central Water Commission had not objected to the construction of Hansi-Butana canal which would cost Rs. 354 crore and carry 2000 cusecs of water to 16 districts of the State. Hooda paid rich tributes to Phoola Devi, who had rendered selfless service to the society with her late husband Ch. Nihal Singh. He also redressed the grievances of the villagers.
