CHANDIGARH: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today expressed profound grief and sorrow over the sudden and untimely demise of former acting Governor of Punjab and former Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court Justice S. S. Sandhewalia who passed away here due to a massive heart attack.

In a condolence message, Mr. Badal said that Justice Sandhewalia was an eminent legal luminary and jurist with the qualities of head and heart, who discharged his duties in different capacities with utmost professional commitment, dedication and sincerity.   He said in his death a void had been created in the legal fraternity that was difficult to fill.  

Mr. Badal expressed his heartfelt sympathies with the members of the bereaved family and prayed the Almighty to give strength and courage to bear this irreparable    loss and grant peace to the departed soul. 

Principal Secretary, Information and Public Relations,  D.S. Jaspal placed wreath on the body of Justice Sandhewalia on behalf of Punjab Chief Minister  Pakash Singh Badal and Director, Information and Public Relations,  Tejveer Singh placed wreath on behalf of Information and Public Relations Minister, Punjab Bikram Singh Majithia. Advocate General, Punjab  H.S. Mattewal, placed wreath on behalf of the legal fraternity of the state. Justice Sandhewalia was cremated here at local cremation ground in the evening and eminent personalities from different walks of the life attended the cremation.
