CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Government Sunday finalized the details of the programme to link Takhat Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Sri Anandpur Sahib with Sachkhand Sri Hazoor Sahib, Nanded through an Inter-State Highway to be known as Guru Gobind Singh Marg.
The details were finalized in a high level meeting presided over by Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal. While giving the details of the meeting Media advisor to the Chief Minister Harchran Bains informed that Badal had already taken up this matter of Government of India (GOI) and a meeting on the subject to be chaired by Union Home Minister was scheduled to be held in New Delhi on November 23, 2007. The new highway would linkup with the portion connecting Takhat Sri Kesgarh Sahib (Sri Anandpur Sahib) with Sachkhand Sri Hazoor Sahib (Nanded) and the Marg would commemorate the journey of 10th Guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji from Sri Damdama Sahib (Talwandi Sabo) to Sri Hazoor Sahib. He further informed that this Marg would have many land marks where the 10th Guru stayed during the course of his journey. This would also be the first Inter-State Highway to connect three of the five holy Takhats of the Sikhs, namely Takhat Sri Keshgarh Sahib, Takhat Sri Damdama Sahib and Takhat Sri Sachkhand Hazoor Sahib, said Bains. It may be recalled here that Punjab Government had consisted a 10-member committee comprising the academicians and scholars in Sikh history as well as geographical experts to collect the authentic information and identify the travel-route of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji in coordination with SGPC and other local Gurudwara Parbandhak Committees etc. Finally the committee has identified and delineated this path on which 10 th Guru of Sikhs Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji traveled from Sri Anandpur Sahib to Sachkhand Sri Hazoor Sahib Nanded. Prominent amongst those who were present in the meeting included Senior Akali Leader Prem Singh Chandumajra, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister DS Guru, Secretary PWD (B&R) Mr. Karan Avtar Singh, Dr. Dalbir Singh Dhillon, Chairman Punjab School Education Board and Dr. Balwant Singh Dhillon.
